Hallo Ihr Lieben, die One-toe-bears feiern die große Eröffnung unseres neuen DaWanda Shops, feiert mit uns! Ihr seid herzlich eingeladen, bis zum 11. Februar 2012 bei der Verlosung teilzunehmen.

Es gibt zwei Möglichkeiten, bei der Verlosung teilzunehmen. Wenn Ihr einen eigenen Blog habt, könnt Ihr einfach eines der Bilder hier mit Link zu unserem Blog posten, und einen kleinen Kommentar hier hinterlassen, dass Ihr mitmachen möchtet. Schon nehmt Ihr an der Verlosung teil. Oder Ihr kauft bis zum Teilnahmeschluss etwas in unserem DaWanda Shop ein, dann nehmt Ihr auch an der Verlosung teil.

Kennt Ihr dieses Lied? / Do you know that song?

Hallo Ihr Lieben, kürzlich habe ich mich mit einer netten Teddybärsammlerin via E-Mail unterhalten. Ich habe ihr von einem Liedtext erzählt, den ich mir für meine bärige Kreation "Phish Food" 2009 einfallen habe lassen. Dieser Bär sitzt auf einer Spieluhr, die sich im Inneren des Eisbechers befindet. Die Spieluhr spielt die Melodie von "Twinkle, twinkle, little star" bzw. "Morgen kommt der Weihnachtsmann".

Lustig genug, dass es zu dieser Melodie zwei vollkommen unterschiedliche Texte in deutscher (Weihnachtslied) und englischer Sprache (Gute-Nacht-Lied) gibt. Als mir dann die liebe Teddysammlerin von einem niederländischen Text erzählte, der zur selben Melodie gesungen wird, war ich ziemlich überrascht.

In den Niederlanden geht es um Kortjakje, der immer krank ist, außer Sonntags, dann geht er zur Kirche. Ist denn diese Melodie in ganz Europa rumgekommen und überall hat man einen neuen Text dazu erfunden? Scheint so, denn ursprünglich kommt die Melodie wohl aus Frankreich (um 1761) und dort hat man selbstverständlich wieder einen ganz anderen Text.

Im Französischen geht es um ein verliebtes Mädchen, das seiner Mutter von seinen Gefühlen für Silvandre erzählt. Es gibt sogar ein ungarisches Weihnachtslied und einen spanischen Text zu dieser Melodie.

Ich finde das ziemlich spannend und so habe ich mal jeweils die ersten Textzeilen der jeweiligen Länder (soweit ich sie finden konnte) unten aufgeschrieben. Ich hoffe, Ihr findet das auch so interessant. Kennt Ihr noch weitere Texte zu der Melodie?

My dear readers, recently, I've been talking to a kind teddy bear collector via eMail. I told her about a song text I had invented for my beary creation "Phish Food", which I had made in 2009. This bear sits on a music box, which is located in the ice cream tub. The music box is playing the melody of "Twinkle, twinkle, little star".

Funny enough that I know a popular german christmas carol with the same melody but a completely different text. When the kind teddy collector told me about a text which people sing in the Netherlands while playing this melody, I was quite surprised.

In the Netherlands, the song is about Kortjakje, who is always sick, except on Sundays, when he goes to church. I was wondering if this melody travelled all around Europe and if in each country people invented their own texts. It seems to be like that. The melody originally seems to come from France (oldest known publication 1761). There people sing another text, of course.

The french text is about a girl who is in love, she tells her mother about her feelings for Silvandre. There is even a hungarian Christmas carol and a spanish text with the same melody.

I think this is quite exciting, so I collected the first lines of the different text (as far as I could find lines). I hope, this is also interesting for you. Do you know other texts with this melody?

Die Nadel glüht / Needle is glowing

Hallo Ihr Lieben, schön langsam genese ich und die Nadel glüht wieder. Ich hoffe, Ihr bleibt gesund, trotz der überall herumschwirrenden Keime (diese fiesen Biester).

Das neue Teddybärchen entwickelt sich prächtig. Der braune und der naturweiße Alpakastoff haben es mir gerade angetan und so musste ich einen weiteren Teddy aus den weichen Stöffchen nähen. Aber was wir aus ihm mal, wenn er fertig ist? Bei unserer Scharade wurde "Earl Grey" schon getippt, leider ist das noch nicht die richtige Lösung. Viel Spaß beim Weiterraten!

Hello my dear readers, I am recovering and so my needle is glowing again. I hope you stay healthy in spite of all the germs buzzing around (these nasty beasts).

My new bruin is developing splendidly. I am so keen on this soft brown and off-white alpaca fabric, I just had to make one more teddy bear out of it. But what is he going to represent when he will be finished? During our charades, "Earl Grey" has been put forward, but I am afraid, this is not the right answer, yet. Have fun with our charades!

Hallo Ihr Lieben, ich hoffe Ihr seid gut ins Neue Jahr rüber gekommen. Leider hat es mich erwischt - zum Glück kann man trotz Schnupfen, Husten und Heiserkeit schreiben. Das neue Bärchen macht auch Fortschritte. Hier zeigt er seine Füße, all die anderen Teile warten noch darauf genäht zu werden. Viel kann man noch erkennen, deshalb gebe ich Euch einen Hinweis zu unserer Scharade bzw. zu unsere Quiz: Man kann ihn mit Zucker genießen. Was wird wohl der Teddybär repräsentieren, wenn er fertig ist?

Ein Wunder geschieht wieder / A miracle happens again

Hallo Ihr Lieben, wieder geschieht ein Wunder und es wird nie langweilig, das ist das Schöne daran.

Es ist immer wieder wie ein Wunder, wenn aus einem Stück Stoff Schritt für Schritt ein süßes Bärchen entsteht. Wenn die Teile zugeschnitten sind, kribbelt es in den Fingern und die Spannung ist groß. Ob der Teddy wohl am Ende so wird, wie ich ihn mir in meinem Kopf ausgemalt habe? Aber natürlich, schließlich lege ich die Nadel nicht beiseite, bis auch dieser Teddy in Braun und Naturweiß in meinen Augen perfekt ist! Nur was wird dieser Teddybär bloß, wenn er mal fertig ist? Das Ratespiel, unsere kleine Scharade, beginnt hiermit wieder. Wir wünschen Euch viel Spaß beim Mitraten und einen guten Rutsch ins Neue Jahr 2012!

Time and time again, it is like a miracle when a piece of fabric slowly becomes a cute bruin. As soon as the parts have been cut out, I am so excited and tingly on my fingers. Ihr Lieben, ein neues Bärchen ist mir von der Nadel gehüpft. Und damit löse ich auch das Rätsel bzw. die Scharade auf - "Latte Macchiato" heißt der neue One-toe-bear. Er ist ein erwachsener und groß gewachsener Teddy mit breiten Schultern - nach dem Vorbild der typischen Latte Macchiato Gläser.

Wusstet Ihr, dass Latte Macchiato in Italien ursprünglich für Kinder erfunden wurde? Da bin ich gerne kindisch und trinke meinen Latte Macchiato am Wochenende zum Frühstück.

Hallo Ihr Lieben, hoffentlich könnt Ihr die Weihnachtszeit genießen und Ihr seid nicht mitten im Weihnachtsstress. Ein wenig stressig war es bei mir in der letzten Zeit, daher konnte ich leider nicht öfter schreiben.

Dafür gibt es jetzt das nächste Foto von meinem neuen Teddybären, der sich langsam entwickelt. Bald ist er fertig und am Ende lüfte ich das Geheimnis - was repräsentiert das neue One-toe-bärchen denn? Ihr habt schon fleißig mitgeraten, bei dieser Scharade - leider wird er weder ein Panda, noch ein Clown, ein Muffin oder ein Elf wird's auch nicht. Ein Tipp noch: Ursprünglich kommt er aus Italien. Viel Spaß noch beim Mitraten!

Hallo Ihr Lieben, kennt Ihr das auch? Dieses Gefühl, wenn man endlich mal wieder was backen möchte? Diesen Freitag nach getaner Arbeit habe ich noch bis nachts um 11 Uhr gebacken, das musste einfach sein. Und ich freue mich riesig, dass mein Rezept für Marzipan Cupcakes gleich beim ersten Backen gelungen ist. Außerdem musste ich mal wieder Blaubeer Muffins backen, die hatte ich schon lange nicht mehr.

Zudem möchte ich Euch zeigen, was inzwischen aus den gestreiften Teilen meines neuen Teddys geworden ist - noch mehr gestreifte Teile. Hat schon jemand eine Idee, was es werden könnte? Kays Idee, es könnte ein Panda werden, war zwar gut, aber leider wird es etwas anderes. Was nur?

Hello dear followers, do you know the feeling, when you just have to bake right now? This friday after work was done, I baked cupcakes and muffins till 11 P.M. I just had to do it and it was fun. This was the first time I tried a marzipan cupcake recipe and I am so glad my first marzipan cupcakes taste great. Furthermore I baked some classic blueberry muffins, since I haven't had those for ages.

Moreover I'd like to show you, how my new teddy is developing. What happened to those striped parts? Well, now there are even more striped parts. Does anyone have an idea what the teddy bear is going to represent? Kay had a good idea, but I am afraid, it is not going to be a panda. But what is it going to be?

Goodbye summer, hello new furry project

Hallo Ihr Lieben, es wird immer kälter in Deutschland. Der Sommer ist nun endgültig vorbei, dafür zeigt sich jetzt der Herbst von seiner besten Seite. Als letzten Sommergruß möchte ich Euch meine selbst gesäten Sonnenblumen (Helianthus annuus) zeigen, die mir den Sommer über so viel Freude bereitet haben.

Liebt Ihr Sonnenblumen auch? Ich finde, sie haben ein so fröhliches Gelb. Außerdem konnte ich beobachten, wie sich die jungen Blätter und Knospen nach der Sonne ausrichten. Morgens zeigen die Knospen nach Osten und wandern dann mit der Sonne mit, bis sie Abends nach Westen zeigen. Diese Bewegung der jungen Pflanzenteile nennt man Heliotropismus. Wenn die Sonnenblume zu blühen anfängt, friert die Pflanze jedoch die Ausrichtung der Blüte nach Osten ein, wo die Sonne aufgeht. Meine Sonnenblumenblüten zeigen auch alle nach Osten.

Aber ich habe auch einen neuen Teddybären angefangen, aus kuschelig weichem Alpaka. Es macht Spaß, den Stoff zu verarbeiten. Wer errät, was es diesmal für ein Bärchen wird? Eines verrate ich Euch, es wird kein Streifenhörnchen ;0)

Dear readers, it is getting more and more chilly here in Germany. This summer is finally over, yet autumn is showing himself at his best. Today I'd like to send you a last summer greeting, please watch my sunflowers (Heliathus annuus). I sowed them in the beginning of July, a little late for sunflowers, but they were a great joy to me.

Do you also love sunflowers? I think, they have such a nice yellow. Besides, I could watch the young leaves and buds track the sun. In the morning, they point to the East and follow the sun until they point to the West. This plant movement is called heliotropism. As soon as sunflowers come into blossom, the movement stops where the flower points to the East. Sunflowers commonly point to the East when they bloom. My sunflowers were also pointing to the East.

But I also started a new teddy bear. I use fluffy alpaca fabric for this one. It is much fun working with this fabric. Who guesses, what this bear is going to represent? I am going to give you a hint: it is not going to be a chipmunk.

So, heute gibt's nun mehr Fotos und Infos zu "Candy" auf unserer Website. "Candys" Lieblingsgetränk ist übrigens ein Glas Milch, das sie auch vorm Zubettgehen braucht. "Candy" liebt Volksfeste, blinkende Lichter und bunte Süßigkeiten. Wenn man sie immer mit Süßigkeiten und viel Liebe versorgt, wird "Candy" ein gutes Mädchen sein. Allerdings darf man ihr nicht ihren Lolly wegnehmen, dann wird sie quengelig und ungezogen. "Candys" großer Traum ist es, einmal mit einem Riesenrad zu fahren.

Hallo Ihr Lieben, heute ist mein neuer Teddybär "Candy" fertig geworden. Ich freue mich sehr, Euch jetzt schon die ersten Fotos zeigen zu können. Die Kleine liebt Süßigkeiten wie Lollies, Zuckerwatte oder Honig über alles. Deshalb hat sie auch einen Riesenlolly bekommen.

Obwohl sie nur ein paar Stunden alt ist, post sie schon ganz natürlich vor der Kamera. Aber ihr Lolly ist immer dabei. Mehr Fotos in Infos zu "Candy" gibt's bald auf unserer Website.

Hirschbrunft+neuer Teddy / Red Deer rut+new teddy

Hallo Ihr Lieben, ihr habt Euch sicher schon gefragt, wann der nächste Teddy fertig ist. Natürlich bin ich nicht untätig und der neue Teddy ist bereits in Arbeit. Bevor ich Euch das erste Bild des noch unfertigen Bärchens zeige, möchte ich Euch ein paar Bilder von letztem Wochenende zeigen.

Es ist Rothirschbrunft und wir haben ein Wildgehege im Naturpark Schönbuch besucht. Es war spannend, wir haben zwei männliche Rothirsche (Cervus elaphus) gesehen. Einer röhrte laut und wir rechneten schon mit einem Kampf. Doch der andere ergriff die Flucht und so kam es zu keinem Kampf. Dafür stellte sich der Feigling direkt vor die Linse und meinte, er wäre ein Model. So konnten wir tolle Bilder machen, während der Rivale weiter laut röhrte und um die Hirschkühe warb. Übrigens haben wir gelesen, dass das Geweih eines Rothirsches im Schönbuch bis zu 9 kg wiegen kann! Arme Hirsche, ist es einmal gewachsen, tragen sie es monatelang mit sich herum, sie können ihr schweres Geweih nicht mal für kurze Zeit ablegen.

Meine neue Kreation hat nichts mit Hirschen zu tun. Der Teddy wird lila, pink, rosa (siehe Foto unten)... bald ist er fertig, dann zeige ich Euch mehr!

Dear friends, you may have wondered when the next teddy will be born. Of course, I am not lazy and the new teddy bear is already developing in my hands. Before I show you my unfinished new creation I'd like to show you a few photos we took last weekend.

It is Red Deer rut and we visited a game reserve at the tiny national park (natural park) called Schönbuch. It was exciting, we saw two stags (Red Deer, Cervus elaphus). One of them was roaring loudly and we were preparing to see a clash of antlers. Thus, the other rival stag turned tail and fled in order to avoid a fight. Instead of a fight, we saw the coward stag behaving like a male model, walking up and down the fence just a few metres away from us. In this way, we were able to take great photos, while the other roaring rival was attracting hinds. By the way, we read that the antlers of the Red Deer living at the nature park Schönbuch can weigh up to 9 kg! Poor stags, once grown they wear their antlers for months, they can not even take off their heavy antlers for a while.

My new creation has nothing to do with Red Deer. The teddy will be purple, pink, lilac (see photo above)... he'll soon be finished, then I am going to show you more!

late summer colours

Hallo Ihr Lieben, heute möchte ich Euch meinen spätsommerlichen Balkon zeigen. In dem großen Blumentopf habe ich fröhliches Gelb mit Weiß kombiniert. Bei der Auswahl der Pflanzen habe ich mir eine schöne gelbe Chrysantheme (Chrysanthemum) herausgepickt und die zierliche Sommerheide (Calluna) in weiß. Ergänzt habe ich die Bepflanzung mit panaschiertem Efeu (Hedera) und einem besonders zierlichen Gras (Festuca). Schließlich windet sich die letzte Kapuzinerkresse (Tropaeolum) dieses Sommers nach oben, mit wunderschönen tief-gelben Blüten.

Die zweite, spätsommerlich gestaltete Ecke meines Balkons entstand eigentlich mehr aus der Not. Als weiteres Souvenir aus den Niederlanden habe ich mir nämlich Tulpenzwiebeln (Hollands Glory) mitgebracht. Jetzt ist die beste Zeit um die Zwiebeln in die Erde zu bringen, damit im nächsten Frühjahr die Tulpen blühen. Bis es soweit ist habe ich die Blumentöpfe hübsch dekoriert.

Hello, today I would like to show you my late summer balcony. In this big flower pot I mixed cheerful yellow flowers with white ones. For my arrangement I chose a beautiful yellow chrysanthemum and a delicate white Calluna. In order to complete my planting, I picked a white speckled ivy and a very dainty grass (Festuca). Eventually, this summer's last nasturtium (Tropaeolum) winds its way up, showing vibrant yellow flowers.

And there is a second corner of my balcony I arranged in a late summer style. As another souvenir I brought some tulip bulbs (Hollands Glory) from Holland. Now is the best time to put the bulbs into the soil in order to have blooming tulips next spring. In the meantime, I decorated the flowerpots in late summer colours.

Es tut mir leid, dass ich mich so lange nicht gemeldet habe. Derzeit habe ich viel mit Jobwechsel zu tun und jetzt hatte mich auch noch die Grippe erwischt. Ich dachte immer, die Lehre von der Geschichte wäre, man sollte sich auch Frösche (auf den ersten Blick unscheinbare Männer) genauer anschauen, vielleicht entpuppen sie sich bei näherer Betrachtung als Prinzen. Heute ist mir wieder eine neue bärige Kreation von der Nadel gehüpft. Hier gibt's schon mal das allererste Foto vom Froschkönig auf seinem handgefilzten Seerosenblatt. Mein Froschkönig hat dicke Froschbacken, eine abnehmbare selbstgemachte Krone und ist aus selbstgefärbtem isargrünen Mohair. Dieser Teddybär ist ausgestattet mit einer Spieldose und einem Duftkissen, das herrlich nach Lavendel duftet. Seine Spieldose spielt Johannes Brahms "Wiegenlied" zur Entspannung und der Lavendelduft wirkt beruhigend.

In den letzten Tagen sind unsere Gedanken oft bei den Menschen in Japan - ich wünsche Japan in dieser schweren Zeit viel Kraft und Optimismus. Nach schlechten Zeiten kommen auch wieder gute. Auch mein neuestes Bärchen ist eng verknüpft mit Japan, "Kiku" ist mein zweiter Japanese und trägt gestickte Chrysanthemen auf Bauch und Rücken. Die Chrysantheme ist Japans Nationalblume und wird "Kiku" genannt, was soviel heißt wie "Abendsonne". Chrysanthemen blühen im Herbst wenn andere Blumen schon verwelkt sind. Sie gelten in Japan als Symbol der Unsterblichkeit und Vollkommenheit und gehören zu den kaiserlichen Symbolen. Übrigens gehört die Chrysantheme zu der Familie der Korbblütler (Asteraceae) und wird in Asien seit 1.600 Jahren kultiviert.

In Japan, mums are a symbol for immortality and perfection. Moreover, the Emperor adopted the flower as his official seal. Ich hoffe, Ihr habt alle schöne Festtage genossen und seid gut ins Neue Jahr gerutscht! Bei den One-toe-bears ist ja auch gleich ein neues Bärli mit rüber gerutscht, mit dem schönen Namen "Rose". Jetzt gibt es auch endlich viele schöne Bilder von dem Bärchen, da die Sonne am Wochenende bei uns endlich mal wieder gelacht hat. Zwar hat mich der Wind, das schelmische Kind, beim Knipsen ein wenig geärgert, aber das sieht man den Bildern gar nicht an. Die Bilder könnt Ihr alle auf unserer Website sehen. Da leider niemand das Rätsel gelöst hat, ist "Rose" nun frei zur Adoption.

Hier ist das neue Bärchen nun, zart wie Rosenblütenblätter und duftet auch so. "Rose" hat Rosenblütenblätter im Bäuchlein und hat ein Herz für Blumen. Öffnet man Roses Schatulle, duftet es noch viel mehr nach Rosen - das Kissen ist ebenfalls mit Rosenblättern gefüllt. Die eingebaute Spieluhr spielt Tschaikowskys "Blumenwalzer", Roses Lieblingslied. Zu wem die Schatulle gehört, sieht man sofort an der Blumendekoration.

Finally the new bruin is here, delicate like a rose petal. The teddy even smells like rose petals. "Rose" has got rose petals in her belly and loves flowers. If you open Rose's casket, there is even more scent like rose petals, because the pillow is also filled with rose petals. The built-in music box plays Tschaikowsky's "Blumenwalzer", Rose's favourite song. Obviously the casket belongs to Rose - the matching flower decoration shows it.

Die One-toe-bears wünschen einen Frohen Advent! Ich hoffe - wie jedes Jahr - auf weiße Weihnachten und habe das Zuhause der One-toe-bears ein wenig weihnachtlich geschmückt. Auch ein Knusperhäuschen haben wir dieses Jahr gebaut und der Clemens Bär (namens Teddy) würde gerne einziehen - aber dafür ist er ein wenig zu groß. Das neue Bärchen mit seiner weißen Schatulle ist in der Zwischenzeit schon ganz schön gewachsen. Es hat nun Arme und die Schatulle hat nun Haltebändchen und ein Polster. Die Schatulle hat übrigens gleich zwei Besonderheiten, die noch nicht verraten werden. Hat jemand eine Idee, wie der neue One-toe-bear heißen wird bzw. was es für ein Bärchen wird?

The One-toe-bears are wishing you a merry Advent! Like every year, I am still hoping for a white Christmas. For a start, I decorated the home of the One-toe-bears a bit Christmassy. This year we even built a gingerbread house where the Clemens teddy bear (called Teddy) would love to move in - but he is a little too big for it. In the meantime, the new One-toe-bear with the white casket has developed. The teddy has arms now and the casket got ribbons to hold the lid and a pillow. Weihnachtsduft / Scent of Christmas

Langsam aber sicher wird es auch bei den One-toe-bears weihnachtlich. Gestern habe ich den ganzen Tag Weihnachtsplätzchen gebacken und so die Wohnung mit weihnachtlichem Duft gefüllt. Immerhin habe ich auch schon die Advents-Tischdecke herausgeholt, als erste weihnachtliche Deko. Trauermäntelchen / Mourning Cloak

Hier ist das neue Bärchen endlich. Heute ist Trauermäntelchen (Nymphalis antiopa) fertig geworden. Er ist ein kleines Schmetterlingsbärchen, der zur Familie der Edelfalter gehört. Der Trauermantel kommt fast in ganz Europa, auch in weiten Teilen Nordamerikas und in Asien bis nach Japan vor. Die Falter leben vor allem in lichten, offenen und feuchten Laubwäldern, man findet sie aber auch in Obstgärten und an Alleen. Sie fliegen dabei bis in Höhen von ca. 2.000 Meter. Die Falter saugen nur selten an Blüten sondern überwiegend an Baumsäften und Fallobst. Nur im Frühjahr findet man sie oft an Weidenblüten.

The Morning Cloak is found throughout continental Europe, North America and in Asia to Japan. These butterflies live mainly in humid sparse woodland, you may also find them in fruit orchards and alleys. They fly in heights about 2,000 metres. The Mourning Cloak rarely feeds on flowers, it prefers tree sap and windfall. In spring, it also likes willow flowers.

Wow, wie toll ist doch das Internet! Ich hatte nun 2 Wochen lang kein Internet und bin froh, endlich wieder im www lesen und schreiben zu können. In der Zwischenzeit hat das neue Bärchen auch sitzen gelernt. Und nun dürften auch die letzten Zweifel ausgeräumt sein: Nein, es wird definitiv kein Pandabär. Kleiner Exkurs in die Zoologie: Pandabären, besser gesagt Große Pandas (Ailuropoda melanoleuca, was soviel bedeutet wie schwarz-weißer Katzenfuß), gehören zur Familie der Bären (Ursidae) und haben weiße Bäuche. Sie fressen fast ausschließlich Bambus und verdrücken davon 9 bis 14 kg pro Tag. In ihrem natürlichen Lebensraum gibt es nur noch 2.500 - 3.000 Große Pandas.

Now there should be left no doubt: no, he is definitely not going to be a panda. A few words on zoology: the Giant Panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca, literally meaning black and white cat-foot) is a bear (family Ursidae) and has a white belly. Their diet consists almost exclusively of bamboo. On average, a Giant Panda eats 9 to 14 kg of bamboo shoots a day. In their natural habitat, only 2,500 to 3,000 pandas are left.

Es flust wieder - ein untrügliches Zeichen, dass ich mit einem neuen Bärchen angefangen habe. Was es wird, soll noch nicht verraten werden. Allerdings kann ich schon mal verraten, dass der neue One-toe-bear aus über 40 Schnitteilen besteht und bereits versprochen ist.

It's getting fuzzy again - a sure sign of me starting a new teddy bear. What the new One-toe-bear is going to be, shall not be revealed, yet. Although, I may already reveal that the new teddy consists of more than 40 pieces of mohair (and Suedine) and he is spoken for.

Endlich ist die Spieluhr mit Mobile fertig. Caramel Chew Chew ist also komplett. Er freut sich schon sehr, sein neues Zuhause kennen zu lernen - Caramel Chew Chew ist nämlich schon versprochen. Worauf er sich allerdings nicht so freut - das Fotoshooting, das er für unser One-toe-bears Album über sich ergehen lassen muss.

Frisch aus dem Urlaub zurück habe ich fix Caramel Chew Chew fertig genäht. So weit, so gut. Die Spieluhr im Eiscremebecher ist allerdings noch nicht befestigt. Da mein Vater einen tollen Heimwerkerkeller und die richtigen Geräte hat, werde ich ihn morgen besuchen, um die fehlenden Teile anzupassen und fachmännisch einzubauen. Klang und Funktionalität sollen ja neben dem Design nicht untergehen.

Just returned from my vacation I quickly finished Caramel Chew Chew. So far so good. However, the music box inside of the ice cream tub is not installed, yet. Since my dad has a great basement with the right DIY tools, I will visit him tomorrow in order to get the missing parts right. I am trying to achieve the best resonance, functionality and design.

Wer sich fragt, wo ich in den letzten Wochen war - im Urlaub natürlich. Hoffentlich hattet Ihr auch schöne Wochen, so wie ich. Und so sah es bei mir aus: wild auf Bäumen wachsende (epiphytische - spricht die Biologin in mir) Orchideen und Tillandsien, Passiflora mit riesen Blüten als Kübelpflanze, Strand mit selbstgebautem Schnee-äh-Sandmann und natürlich Palmen, verrückte Schilder, Giraffen füttern im Miami Metro Zoo und vieles vieles mehr... wie Ihr vielleicht erraten habt, ich war an der süd-östlichen Küste Floridas!

If you wonder where I was the last few weeks - on vacation, of course. I hope you had some fantastic weeks, just like me. And this is how it looked like for me (see pictures above): wild orchids and tillandsia growing in trees (these plants are epiphytes - says the biologist in me), passiflora with huge flowers grown outside, the beach with my snow-I-mean-sandman and of course palm trees, crazy signs, feeding giraffes in Miami Metro Zoo and much more... you might have guessed, I was at the south-eastern coast of Florida!

Spielzeugsalon & InterBär & Puppe

Am Wochenende habe ich den Spielzeugsalon in Böblingen besucht und Euch Fotos mitgebracht.

Oft hofft man ja auf kleineren Börsen vergebens darauf, ein bekanntes (Teddybär-) Gesicht zu sehen. Anders bei dieser Börse im schönen Schwabenländle. Gleich als ich die Treppen zum Obergeschoß nahm, habe ich die PS Bären von Peter Steiner winken sehen.

Auch die gelibären von Angelika Schwind waren mit von der Partie und haben viel frische Farben in die Ausstellungshalle mit all dem antiken Spielzeug gebracht.

Und als ich dann schon wieder auf dem Rückweg war, fiel mir auf, dass ich einen Gang noch gar nicht inspiziert hatte und da entdeckte ich den Stand von Gaby Schlotz. Ein Urgestein der Teddybärkunst zwischen all dem antiken Spielzeug!

Da bin ich natürlich sofort an den Stand von Frau Schlotz gestürmt und habe ihre wundervollen Bären, Hasen, Igel und Hunde bewundert. Besonders habe ich mich über das ausführliche Gespräch mit Frau Schlotz gefreut - so ganz unter Teddybärfreunden.

Last weekend I visited a show in Böblingen, the Spielzeugsalon, in the beautiful south of Germany. And I brought some photos, as you can see. I hope you enjoy them.

As it is a small show I didn't expect to see any popular (teddy bear) faces. But when I entered the first floor of the hall, I saw the firs well-known teddy bears. There were Peter Steiner's PS Bären waving. Then I met Angelika Schwind's gelibären, who brought some fresh colours into the hall with all these antique toys.

And when I was preparing to leave, I noticed that I had forgotten one aisle. And there I discovered Gaby Schlotz's stand. A grande dame of teddy bear making in between all these antique toys. Of course, I headed to her stand immediately to watch her beautiful bears, bunnies, hedgehogs and dogs. I was so happy when talking to her - teddy bear enthusiast to fellow teddy bear enthusiast.

Heute möchte ich allen ein schönes Osterfest wünschen und mich entschuldigen, dass ich in der letzten Zeit wenig schreiben konnte. Ich war auf Jobsuche und daher sehr beschäftigt. Nun habe ich einen ganz tollen neuen Job gefunden. Leider kann ich meine Feiertagsmuffins nicht mit allen teilen. Dafür möchte ich Euch heute mein Rezept verraten (siehe unten) - ich hoffe sie gelingen Euch und Ihr habt viel Freude daran!

Today I would like to wish you all a very happy Easter and want to apologize that I didn't have much time to write. I was very busy looking for a new job. Now I've found a great new job. It's a pity I can not share my Easter muffins with all of you. Instead I want to share my recipe (scroll to the bottom) - I hope your muffins come out well, have fun baking!

Rezept:

200 g Mehl

70 g Haferflocken, fein

1 gestr. TL Natron

2 TL Backpulver

1 Glas Heidelbeeren (bzw. 250 g frische oder TK Heidelbeeren)

2 Eier

170 g Zucker, braun

125 g Butter, weich

2 Vanillezucker

200 g Joghurt (oder saure Sahne)

Backofen auf 180°C vorheizen. Mehl in eine Schüssel sieben und mit Backpulver, Natron und Haferflocken sorgfältig mischen. In einer anderen Schüssel Eier mit Zucker, Butter, Vanillezucker und Joghurt (bzw. saurer Sahne) verquirlen. Zuletzt Mehlmischung unterrühren und die gut abgetropften Heidelbeeren vorsichtig unterheben. Teig in die Förmchen einfüllen und 20-25 min backen. Im Blech 5 min abkühlen lassen, dann herausnehmen.

Recipe:

200 g flour

70 g oatflakes

1 level tsp. natron

2 tsp. baking powder

1 glass blueberries (or 250 g fresh or frozen blueberries)

2 eggs

170 g brown sugar

125 g butter (room temp.)

2 vanilla sugar

200 g yoghurt (or sour cream)

Preheat oven at 180°C. Sieve flour into a bown and mix with baking powder, natron and oatflakes. Mix eggs, sugar, butter, vanilla suger and yoghurt (or sour cream) in another bowl. Now add flour mixture and stir in properly. Finally add drained blueberries and stir in carefully. Fill dough into muffin moulds and bake 20-25 min. Let them cool for 5 min, then take them out.

Schön war es in Wiesbaden am 13. März 2010! Ich habe mit Shirley Scheibehenne getalkt, den D'Lyell Igel gekitzelt und wieder zusammengerollt, mit Barbara und Andy Cunningham von Barbara-Ann Bears geplaudert und einen Barbara-Ann Bear mit nach Hause genommen! Chuffy Chuffnell hat die Heimreise genossen und sich schon gut eingelebt. Gleich hat er die X-Box meines Freundes in Beschlag genommen. Früher ist er gern Motorrad gefahren, hat mir Barbara erzählt - jetzt hat er das gefährliche Motorradfahren aufgegeben und Video-Autorennspiele entdeckt.

In Wiesbaden on 13. March 2010 I had a great time! I talked to Shirley Scheibehenne, tickeled te D'Lyell hedgehog and let him roll up into a ball again, chatted with Barbara and Andy Cunningham (Barbara-Ann Bears form England) and took a Barbara-Ann Bear home! Chuffy Chuffnell enjoyed the journey home and already started to feel at home. He occupied my boy-friends X-Box immediately. He loved to ride motor bikes, Barbara told me - now he has given up doing dangerous motor bike rides and discovered video racing games.

Neues Stöfflie / New mohair

Habe ich eigentlich schon erzählt, dass ich selber Mohair färbe mit licht- und wasserfesten natürlichen Färbemitteln? War nur in letzter Zeit etwas färbefaul. Bin auch ein wenig stolz darauf, dass sogar Madeleine G. Herzig schon ein Stöfflie von mir gekauft hat und ein tolles lachsfarbenes Bärchen daraus genäht hat. Nun, ein wunderschönes dunkles Weinrot (sparse, Schulte-Qualität, 15 mm Flor, glatt, heller Rücken, 140 x 25 cm) ist mal wieder fertig geworden. Falls ein kreativer Kopf dran Interesse hat, einfach bei mir melden! Habe auch noch blau/rosane Batik-Mohairstoffe gemacht, für etwas verrücktere Bären.

Have I ever told you that I also dye mohair with light- and waterproof natural dyes? I just was a little lazy lately. I am a little proud of the fact that even Madeleine G. Herzig (famous Swiss teddy bear artist) has bought a piece of my mohair and made a great salmon teddy bear out of it. Well, I just made a fantastic dark wine red piece of mohair (sparce, Schulte-woven, 15 mm pile, not curly, light back, 140 x 25 cm). If anyone of the creatives amongst you is interested in it, don't hesitate to contact me. I also have made some blue/pink batik mohair pieces, for the crazy teddy bear.

Nun ist es soweit, das neue Bärchen ist fertig! Es ist einer meiner Ben&Jerry's Bären geworden, "Phish food" heißt er. Nach "Half baked" und "Cookie dough" ist das nun mein dritter Ben&Jerry's Bär. Diesmal habe ich seinen Becher sogar noch etwas ausgestattet (*Überraschung*). Hiermit ist das Ratespiel allerdings auch zu Ende und leider hat niemand gewonnen. Vielen Dank an alle, die mitgemacht haben.

Weihnachtszeit / Christmas holidays

Damit es ein wenig weihnachtlicher wird, hier in unserem Blog, habe ich selbstgebackene Plätzchen mitgebracht. Vergangenes Wochenende habe ich 4 Sorten Weihnachtsplätzchen (darunter auch traditionell Schwäbische) gebacken. Yummy! Könnt Ihr den Plätzchenduft riechen? Also hat letztes Wochenende die Weihnachtszeit für mich begonnen.

Nach einigen anstrengenden Wochen und Wochenenden, an denen ich teilweise arbeiten musste, hatte ich dieses Wochenende ein wenig Zeit zum Nähen... das Ergebnis ist ein fröhlicher schokobrauner Teddybär, dem noch seine charakteristischen Applikationen fehlen. Bald ist er fertig. Die Tipps in Richtung schokobrauner Mohair und caramelfarbene Details waren schon gar nicht schlecht. Nur was macht der naturweiße Farbton da?

Bin wieder zurück aus der Schweiz, habe ein schönes Wochenende in Zürich verbracht. Zwar hatte ich dieses Wochenende wieder keine Zeit zum Nähen, da es so viel zu sehen gab in Zürich, aber habe immerhin nach Bären Ausschau gehalten!

I am back from Swiss, I spent a beautiful weekend in Zurich. Again, I didn't have any time to sew this weekend, since there was so much to see in Zurich, but at least I found bears in Zurich (Bären-Brüggli means Bear's Bridge)!

Naschkatzenpfoten / Sweet tooth

Jetzt sind die Ärmchen mit den Händchen fertig. Die Hände sind recht groß und können sicher mal allerlei Süßigkeiten fangen. Wer eine Naschkatze ist, wird diesen Teddybären lieben, wenn er fertig ist.

Frankfurter Buchmesse / Frankfurt book fair

So, bin zurück von der Frankfurter Buchmesse - und ich bin wirklich begeistert. Fast wie eine noch viel größere Teddybärenmesse. Nur mit Büchern! Ich hatte natürlich keine einzige Minute Zeit, am Wochenende zu nähen. Aber es war so spannend und ich hatte so viel zu tun, dass ich das Nähen gar nicht vermissen konnte. Dafür habe ich heute wieder ein bisschen Zeit dazu! Juhu!

Well, I am back form the Frankfurt book fair - and I must say, it really was amazing. Just like an even bigger teddy show - only with books! Of course, I didn't have one minute to sew this weekend. But it was so exciting and I had so much to do, I couldn't miss it. Eventually, I have some time to sew, today! Yippee!

Es juckt mich schon jetzt in den Fingern, wenn ich daran denke, dass ich am kommenden Wochenende nicht nähen kann. Dann muss ich auf der Frankfurter Buchmesse arbeiten, was bestimmt eine interessante neue Erfahrung wird. Aber an meinem Wochenende hätte ich doch gern Zeit zum Entspannen und Nähen. Durch meinen Vollzeitjob habe ich ohnehin so wenig Zeit dazu. Und ich habe doch so viele Ideen für Bärchen. Aber Schluss mit meckern, jetzt nähe ich noch ein Stündchen! Gute Nacht!

Thinking about this weekend, not having time to sew at all, makes my fingers itch. Then I will be at the Frankfurt book fair, working. Surely it will be a great experience, but on my weekend I would love to have some time to relax and sew! Due to my full time job there already is little time to sew. Pfotenabdruck / Paw print

Diese Pfoten hinterlassen einen charakteristischen Abdruck... wenn dieses Bärchen also mal Honig nascht und seine Füßchen beschmutzt, wird man den Honigdieb leicht durch seine Pfotenabdrücke neben dem Honigglas entlarven können. Also, wer weiß, was dieses Bärchen wohl für eines wird?

Endlich wieder ein Bild vom bald fertigen Raupenbär! An dem Schwänzchen sieht man ganz deutlich, dass es die Raupe eines Schwärmers ist. Ich bitte um Entschuldigung, wegen vielen vielen Überstunden hatte ich kaum Zeit zum Nähen. Daher schreibe ich erst jetzt wieder eine Nachricht.

Eventually, a new picture of the nearly finished caterpill(be)ar! You can tell by his tail that he is the caterpillar of a Hawk Moth. I beg your pardon, because of working over-time all the time I didn't have much time to sew. This is the reason why I couldn't write sooner.

Es tut mir leid, dass ich so lange nicht in meinem Blog antworten und posten konnte. Meine Festplatte hat mich leider verlassen und so musste ich erst mein Notebook zum Reparieren weggeben. Aber nun ist mein Notebook wieder da und ich kann endlich wieder schreiben! Ich bin schon sehr gespannt, wer das Rätsel gewinnen wird!

Augen und Ohren / Eyes and ears

Der Kopf hat schon Augen, Ohren und der Hals ist auch schon angebracht. Aber die Nase fehlt noch. Ich finde, ohne Nase sieht er zwar noch nicht aus wie ein richtiger One-toe-bear, aber man kann schon erkennen, aus welchem Hause er stammt :O)!

The head has got eyes, ears and the neck is already attached to it, as well. But the nose is still missing. I think even if he does not look like a real One-toe-bear without a nose yet, you can already tell where he is coming from :O)!

Bereit für ein kleines Ratespiel? Die Frage ist: Was wird aus diesem kleinen Bärchen, wenn es mal fertig ist? Oder wer errät seinen Namen? Viele wissen ja schon, dass meine Teddybären nicht einfach nur Bären sind - sie stellen auch immer etwas dar: Alltagsgegenstände, Süßigkeiten, Insekten, Pflanzen oder auch Märchengestalten. Was wird es also diesmal?

Mitmachen ist ganz einfach:

Werden Sie "Regelmäßiger Leser", indem Sie rechts in der Seitenleiste auf "Verfolgen" klicken! Wählen Sie im neuen Fenster nun einen Dienst, bei dem Sie bereits angemeldet sind. Wenn Sie noch keinen Account haben, können Sie das ganz schnell und unkompliziert über "einen neuen google Account erstellen" tun (dazu brauchen Sie keine persönlichen Daten angeben). Warum das nötig ist? Damit niemand schummelt. Nur so kann ich am Ende guten Gewissens dem Gewinner gratulieren und ihm seinen Preis verleihen.
