Fussel überall / Fluff everywhere

Es flust wieder - ein untrügliches Zeichen, dass ich mit einem neuen Bärchen angefangen habe. Was es wird, soll noch nicht verraten werden. Allerdings kann ich schon mal verraten, dass der neue One-toe-bear aus über 40 Schnitteilen besteht und bereits versprochen ist.

It's getting fuzzy again - a sure sign of me starting a new teddy bear. What the new One-toe-bear is going to be, shall not be revealed, yet. Although, I may already reveal that the new teddy consists of more than 40 pieces of mohair (and Suedine) and he is spoken for. 

Caramel Chew Chew

Hier kommt "Caramel Chew Chew", ein weiteres Mitglied meiner Ben & Jerry's Teddybären-Kollektion. Ohne seinen originalen Ben & Jerry's Eiscremebecher geht er nirgends hin.

In seinem Becher ist eine Spieluhr untergebracht, die Mozart's Eine kleine Nachtmusik spielt. Wenn man den Becher öffnet und die Spieluhr aufzieht, kann "Caramel Chew Chew" auf einem komfortablen Sitz aus Karamelleiscreme sitzen und mit seinem Mobile spielen. Als junger Bär liebt er es, mit seinem Mobile zu spielen.

Mit seinem offenen Mäulchen und seinen Pfoten hascht er nach den Toffees, die von einem großen Bogen baumeln. Ich habe die Toffees (mit Schokolade überzogene Karamellstücke) aus Fimo gemacht und dabei sehr auf die Details geachtet. "Caramel Chew Chew" selbst ist aus feinem kurzflorigem Mohair gemacht, er hat einen hellen Karamellfarbton mit dunklen Spitzen. Als Kontrast habe ich seine Innenohren, Mäulchen, Zehen und Handballen aus schokoladenfarbigem Pfotenstoff gearbeitet, während seine Schnauze aus karamellfarbigem Pfotenstoff gemacht ist.

Ich habe Gesicht, Hände und Sohlen mit der Needle Sculpting Technik geformt. Weiterhin habe ich mit ein bisschen Farbe noch ein wenig mehr Schattierungen herausgearbeitet. Seine schokofarbenen Krallen und seine Nase sind gestickt und gewachst. Außerdem hat "Caramel Chew Chew" glänzende schwarze Glasaugen, mit denen er verspielt in die Welt schaut.

Übrigens ist er Schafwolle und Mineralgranulat gefüllt. Seine 8 Gelenke machen ihn sehr beweglich, sodass er fabelhaft nach seinen Lieblingstoffees greifen kann. Zudem ist "Caramel Chew Chews" Körper speziell fürs Chillen und Spielen auf seiner Spieluhr entworfen worden.

"Caramel Chew Chew" ist ein verspielter kleiner Bär. Er liebt Brettspiele und er wird eine Tasse heißen Kakao wollen, bevor er sich zu Bett bringen lässt. Natürlich sind Süßigkeiten sein Lieblingsessen, im Besonderen schokoladenüberzogene Äpfel und Erdbeeren. Was "Caramel Chew Chew" noch viel mehr braucht als Süßigkeiten, ist viel Liebe. Er mag es nicht besonders, wenn andere Bären mit seiner Spieluhr und seinem Mobile spielen - er findet, dass das seines ist und andere Bären nur alles kaputt machen. Schließlich ist er noch ein wenig kitzlig - aber bitte nicht verraten, dass ich das erzählt habe. 

"Caramel Chew Chew" hat sein neues Zuhause in Hambleton, England. Da wird er jede Menge Spaß mit Jo, seiner neuen Mum, haben. Zudem gibt es in England viele neue Süßigkeiten für ihn zu probieren, wie z. B. Fudge.

Here comes "Caramel Chew Chew", another member of my Ben & Jerry's teddy bear collection. He comes with his original Ben & Jerry's ice cream tub.

In his tub there is a music box playing Mozart's Eine kleine Nachtmusik. If you open the tub and wind up the music box, "Caramel Chew Chew" can sit on a comfortable caramel ice cream seat and play with his mobile.

As a young bear he loves to play with his mobile. With his open mouth and his paws he snatches at the toffees dangling from a big arch. I have made the toffees (chocolate covered caramel chunks) out of Fimo and I paid much attention to the details. "Caramel Chew Chew" himself is made of fine short pile mohair in a light caramel colour with darker tips. For a contrast I made his his inner ears, mouth, toes and palms out of chocolate coloured suedine while his snout has been made out of caramel coloured suedine.

I needle sculpted his face, hands and soles. Furthermore, with a little dye I added even more shades. His chocolate coloured claws and nose have been stitched and waxed. Moreover, "Caramel Chew Chew" has got gleaming black glass eyes which make him look playfully.

By the way, he is filled with sheep´s wool and mineral granules. His 8 joints make him very movable so that he is able to snatch at his favourite toffees. Additionally, "Caramel Chew Chew's" body is specially designed for chilling and playing on his music box.

"Caramel Chew Chew" is a playful little bear. He loves board games and he will want to have a cup of hot chocolate before he will go to bed. Naturally, his favourite food is sweets, particularly chocolate covered apples and strawberries. What "Caramel Chew Chew" needs even more than sweets, is much love. He doesn't like other bears playing with his music box and mobile - he thinks it's all his and others would only break it. Finally, he is a bit ticklish - but please don't tell him that I revealed that. 

"Caramel Chew Chew" found a new home in Hambleton, England. There he will have much fun with his new mum Jo. Moreover, in England there are many new sweets to try, like fudge.

Caramel Chew Chew

Endlich ist die Spieluhr mit Mobile fertig. Caramel Chew Chew ist also komplett. Er freut sich schon sehr, sein neues Zuhause kennen zu lernen - Caramel Chew Chew ist nämlich schon versprochen. Worauf er sich allerdings nicht so freut - das Fotoshooting, das er für unser One-toe-bears Album über sich ergehen lassen muss.

Eventually the music box with mobile is finished. So Caramel Chew Chew is complete now. He is looking forward to finally meeting his new mum - Caramel Chew Chew is already spoken for. But he is not really looking forward to the photo shooting for the One-toe-bears photo album.

So weit, so bär / So far so bear

Frisch aus dem Urlaub zurück habe ich fix Caramel Chew Chew fertig genäht. So weit, so gut. Die Spieluhr im Eiscremebecher ist allerdings noch nicht befestigt. Da mein Vater einen tollen Heimwerkerkeller und die richtigen Geräte hat, werde ich ihn morgen besuchen, um die fehlenden Teile anzupassen und fachmännisch einzubauen. Klang und Funktionalität sollen ja neben dem Design nicht untergehen.

Just returned from my vacation I quickly finished Caramel Chew Chew. So far so good. However, the music box inside of the ice cream tub is not installed, yet. Since my dad has a great basement with the right DIY tools, I will visit him tomorrow in order to get the missing parts right. I am trying to achieve the best resonance, functionality and design.

Urlaub / Vacation

Wer sich fragt, wo ich in den letzten Wochen war - im Urlaub natürlich. Hoffentlich hattet Ihr auch schöne Wochen, so wie ich. Und so sah es bei mir aus: wild auf Bäumen wachsende (epiphytische - spricht die Biologin in mir) Orchideen und Tillandsien, Passiflora mit riesen Blüten als Kübelpflanze, Strand mit selbstgebautem Schnee-äh-Sandmann und natürlich Palmen, verrückte Schilder, Giraffen füttern im Miami Metro Zoo und vieles vieles mehr... wie Ihr vielleicht erraten habt, ich war an der süd-östlichen Küste Floridas!

If you wonder where I was the last few weeks - on vacation, of course. I hope you had some fantastic weeks, just like me. And this is how it looked like for me (see pictures above): wild orchids and tillandsia growing in trees (these plants are epiphytes - says the biologist in me), passiflora with huge flowers grown outside, the beach with my snow-I-mean-sandman and of course palm trees, crazy signs, feeding giraffes in Miami Metro Zoo and much more... you might have guessed, I was at the south-eastern coast of Florida!

2 Augen, Nase, Mund / 2 eyes, nose, mouth

Heute melde ich mich endlich mit Caramel Chew Chew zurück. In der letzten Zeit hatte ich viel zu tun und kam wegen Lieferschwierigkeiten eines wichtigen Teils (des Spielwerkes) nicht weiter. Aber jetzt kann Caramel Chew Chew nichts mehr im Wege stehen!


Today I am finally back blogging, being able to show something of Caramel Chew Chew. I've been very busy and I had some trouble getting an important part (the music box). But now nothing can get in the way of Caramel Chew Chew any more.

Spielzeugsalon & InterBär & Puppe

Am Wochenende habe ich den Spielzeugsalon in Böblingen besucht und Euch Fotos mitgebracht.

Oft hofft man ja auf kleineren Börsen vergebens darauf, ein bekanntes (Teddybär-) Gesicht zu sehen. Anders bei dieser Börse im schönen Schwabenländle. Gleich als ich die Treppen zum Obergeschoß nahm, habe ich die PS Bären von Peter Steiner winken sehen.

Auch die gelibären von Angelika Schwind waren mit von der Partie und haben viel frische Farben in die Ausstellungshalle mit all dem antiken Spielzeug gebracht.

Und als ich dann schon wieder auf dem Rückweg war, fiel mir auf, dass ich einen Gang noch gar nicht inspiziert hatte und da entdeckte ich den Stand von Gaby Schlotz. Ein Urgestein der Teddybärkunst zwischen all dem antiken Spielzeug!

Da bin ich natürlich sofort an den Stand von Frau Schlotz gestürmt und habe ihre wundervollen Bären, Hasen, Igel und Hunde bewundert. Besonders habe ich mich über das ausführliche Gespräch mit Frau Schlotz gefreut - so ganz unter Teddybärfreunden.

Last weekend I visited a show in Böblingen, the Spielzeugsalon, in the beautiful south of Germany. And I brought some photos, as you can see. I hope you enjoy them.

As it is a small show I didn't expect to see any popular (teddy bear) faces. But when I entered the first floor of the hall, I saw the firs well-known teddy bears. There were Peter Steiner's PS Bären waving. Then I met Angelika Schwind's gelibären, who brought some fresh colours into the hall with all these antique toys.

And when I was preparing to leave, I noticed that I had forgotten one aisle. And there I discovered Gaby Schlotz's stand. A grande dame of teddy bear making in between all these antique toys. Of course, I headed to her stand immediately to watch her beautiful bears, bunnies, hedgehogs and dogs. I was so happy when talking to her - teddy bear enthusiast to fellow teddy bear enthusiast.

Holly

Hier kommt "Holly". Mit Stechpalmenblättern und -beeren ist dieser Teddybär ziemlich klassisch dekoriert, gut vorbereitet auf jede kommende Weihnachtszeit.

"Holly" ist aus kurzflorigem schneeweißem Mohair gemacht. Ich habe den Flor an Sohlen und Händen getrimmt. Handballen und Zehen sind gefilzte Details, die an Schneebälle erinnern. Ich habe auch "Hollys" Gesicht mit der Nadelfilztechnik geformt. Für die gefilzten Details habe ich extraweiche schneeweiße Wolle benutzt. Die Stechpalmenblätter wurden ebenso gefilzt. Während ein Blatt absteht, sind die anderen beiden auf den Körper aufgefilzt. Die Beeren hängen von seiner Schulter.

Acht Gelenke ermöglichen es dem Teddy, sich gut zu bewegen. "Holly" kann alleine stehen, kann aber genauso gut sitzen. Stahlgranulat in Füßen und Körper geben "Holly" mehr Gewicht. Schließlich hat "Holly" gestickte passende grün und rote Krallen und eine gestickte grüne Nase mit einem roten Streifen.

"Holly" ist ein romantischer Teddybär, der gerne den Schneeflocken zusieht, während sie auf den Boden fallen. Natürlich ist der Winter "Hollys" liebste Jahreszeit. Weihnachtsdekoration mit Stechpalmenmotiven und frische Stechpalmenzweige sind essentiell für "Holly". Wer einen Stechpalmenbusch in seinem Garten hat, den wird dieser Teddybär lieben. "Holly" liebt es auch, wenn man Kuchen bäckt, die mit Puderzucker verziert sind, weil das aussieht wie Schnee. Alles in allem ist "Holly" eine ausgeglichene Bärsönlichkeit. Das einzige, was "Holly" nicht mag, ist in der prallen Sonne sitzen (genau wie Schneemänner) - also möchte dieser Bär im Sommer gerne Fenstern fern bleiben. 

"Holly" hat zunächst ein neues Zuhause bei Nicole in Grünbach, Österreich, gefunden. Schließlich ist "Holly" zu Ricky in die Niederlande gezogen, wo sie jedes Weihnachtsfest noch festlicher machen wird.

Here comes "Holly". With holly leaves and berries, this teddy bear is quite 
classically decorated, ready for each coming Christmas time.

"Holly" is made of short pile snow white mohair. I trimmed the pile on soles and hands. Palms and toes are needle felted details that remind of snow balls. I also formed "Holly´s" face with the needle felting technique. For the felted details I used extra soft snow white wool. The holly leaves are also needle felted. While one leaf is sticking out, the other two are felted onto the body. The berries are dangling.

Eight joints enable the teddy to move quite well. "Holly" is able to stand alone as well as this bear is able to sit. Steel pellets in feet and body provide "Holly" with extra weight. Finally, "Holly" has got stitched matching green and red claws and a stitched green nose with a red stripe.

"Holly" is a romantic teddy bear, who loves watching snow flakes falling to the ground. Of course, winter is "Holly´s" favourite season. Christmas decoration with holly motives and fresh holly twigs are essential for "Holly". If you have a holly bush in your garden, this teddy bear will love you. "Holly" will also love you when you bake cakes covered with icing sugar because it looks like snow. All in all, "Holly" is a balanced bearsonality. The only thing "Holly" does not like is sitting in the blazing sun (like snowmen) - so please keep this bear away from windows in summer. 

At first, "Holly" found a new home at Nicole´s in Grünbach, Austria. Finally, "Holly" moved to Ricky´s in the Netherlands, where "Holly" will make each Christmas even more festive.
